Most of our families are so wonderful and appreciative that we do not need to write the rules and procedures for our music studio. However, just to make sure that everyone does understand and follows all policies, we are giving them to you in written form. Our policy is to make two copies: one to be signed by the parent or guardian for our files, and the other to have at home to refer to when needed. Also, we require a working email address for all parent/guardians.
PAYMENT
Students at the Carpenter Conservatory have two payment options: payment at the time of each individual lesson, or our lower School Year Lessons Session Monthly Rate. Please note that, depending upon your particular time slot, in certain months you might have 5 lessons and, in others, 3. The current pricing structure is as follows.

Please pay the monthly rate at the first lesson of each month. Monthly payments must be made by the 10th of the month or a $20 late fee will be incurred.
TERM LENGTH:
The Carpenter Conservatory generally begins its school year session during the 1st or 2nd week of September. Each School Year Lessions Session student is committed to regular attendance from September through May. This is the only way a student can really progress. A person may only cancel this commitment because of a move or a family emergency. In these cases, we must be notified one full month in advance. If this advance is not given, then the student must pay for the month following their cancellation as per the signed contract. Students signing up after September who would like to take advantage of the school year Lessons Session monthly rate are STILL committed to regular attendance through May.
The Carpenter Conservatory School Year Lessons Session calendar tends to parallel that of the local schools. The studio is closed during most school holidays. Please see the Carpenter Conservatory schedule for 2009 2010 for more information. We do not make up lessons that fall on holidays.
We usually present a short Summer Session of between four and eight lessons for those who would like to continue study. This is also a great opportunity for those interested in signing up in September to get a taste of what we have to offer at the Carpenter Conservatory. The dates for this Summer Session are usually announced in May.
MISSED LESSONS:
Because of the low School Year Lessons Session monthly rate, we are not contracted to make up any missed lessons due to school events, family trips, sickeness, etc. However, for students who cancel 24 hours in advance, we will make every effort to find additional time before or after their regularly scheduled lesson, up to 4 times per school year (this is not in our contract, but is offered as a special courtesy to you). We cannot guarantee that missed lessons will be made up. We usually have one to two weeks in May when we are more available for makeup lessons. Ocassionaly, we offer a voice master class on a Monday, after school, which can be counted for additional time. We will endeavor to let you know about them as soon as they are scheduled.
There is no extra charge if we give you extra time during a scheduled lesson. However, that time does count toward any makeups.
If we cancel a lesson, we WILL make it up! Please do not come to your lesson if you have the flu, strep throat, a throat or sinus infection or any other highly contagious illness.
Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours notice will not be made up.
RECITALS:
As an added benefit to our School Year Lessons Session students, the Carpenter Conservatory generally presents two recitals per year (in December and May). There is no charge for participating in the recitals. However, they do count as one lesson whether or not the student participates. We strongly encourage all of our students to perform at these recitals. Occasionally, we will have a special rehearsal with a professional accompanist at no cost to the student to help him or her to become more relaxed and prepared for their performance.
Individual lesson students who have attended at least 3 lessons per month throughout the school year may also participate in these recitals, if they choose to do so.
IN CLOSING:
We reserve the right to modify the rules, procedures and fees at any time. If this occurs, we will provide you with written notice.
We care very much about all of our students and think of many of them as family. We have kept the monthly rate low to give more students to the opportunity to study. Our dedication, experience and qualifications have enabled us to lead so many of our students to excellence. We deeply appreciate your cooperation in complying with our studio policies.
Students and parents who are not willing to comply with the policies and procedures described herein will be asked to leave the studio.
